Heavy traffic in the Utasund connection – we encourage you to travel without a car

The ferry connection between Småge, Orta, Finnøya, Sandøya and Ona has a very high traffic this summer. It is especially on nice days and weekends that many people want to visit the islands – which leads to challenges in keeping the timetables.

To reduce traffic and improve traffic flow, Møre and Romsdal County Council has introduced a summer tariff for vehicles in the period from 1 May to 31 August. The connection is otherwise free for both passengers and vehicles the rest of the year.

We see that it is demanding to keep to the timetables when there are many vehicles, especially motorhomes and caravans, that need to be stowed and backed on board. This also affects the bus connections from Finnøya and Småge.

FRAM therefore encourages everyone who has the opportunity to do so to travel without a car or carpool. This will contribute to better traffic flow and better space both on the ferry and on the islands.

Residents and commuters have priority on the ferry, and we hope that visitors will be considerate.
