The counting will distinguish who must pay the summer rate and who will get the unchanged rate (normal rate) this summer. The rule for the summer rate period is that anyone who has four trips or more on a route after 1 April, from 1 May to 31 August, is eligible for the normal rate from the fifth trip on that route. Those who do not have enough accumulated trips must pay the summer rate.
The purpose of the summer rate is to partially finance higher costs due to heavy usage (there are two ferries on the Eidsdal–Linge route during the summer) and/or to reduce traffic to avoid traffic challenges.
The Transport Committee unanimously decided to introduce the summer rate from 01.05.2025 to 31.08.2025 on two ferry routes in the county:
- Eidsdal–Linge: The summer rate is five fare zones above the normal rate (the rate that usually applies).
- Småge–Orta–Finnøya–Sandøya–Ona: The summer rate is the fare zones that applied before the route became free. The normal rate is free.
The purpose of the summer rate is to partially finance the costs and/or reduce traffic to avoid traffic challenges.
