• Children under 6 years old who do not travel alone, travel for free (except kindergarten on a trip or school transport).
• Children's ticket: From 6 years until and including 17 years.
• Adult ticket: From 18 years until and including 66 years.
• Concessionary ticket (honnør): Concessionary tickets are for those 67 years and over, the disabled with a disability pension under the National Insurance Act, persons with a concessionary card from NAV, and the blind. This ticket is also for a spouse, registered partner or cohabitant travelling with a person entitled to a concessionary ticket. The concessionary discount cannot be combined with other ticket discounts. You must be able to show an approved form of ID when using the concessionary discount.

* Kindergartens can travel on buses without paying for their children on bus departures after 09.00 and before 13.00. Separate rules apply on express boats. You can find more information about this under the section on Groups.

• If you are a full-time student at a Norwegian upper secondary school, college, university or other approved educational institutions you are entitled to a student discount.
• The student discount applies to students in upper secondary school and full-time students up to and including 29 years old.
• If you are a Norwegian citizen with a valid student ID and paid semester fee from an educational institution abroad, you are also entitled to student discount. An ANSA membership card is not valid as ID.
• Student discount also apply to foreign citizens that study in Norway and who has a valid personal ID, valid student ID and receipt for paid semester fee.
• Apprentices can buy tickets with student discount if they show proof of apprenticeship. Logged-in user in Vigo app for fagopplæring (app for vocational training) is valid as proof of apprenticeship.
• In order to get a student discount, you must be able to show a valid student’s ID (card or on your mobile) and a receipt for a paid semester fee.
• Student ID from the educational institution is considered valid until the end of January for the autumn semester and until the end of August for the spring semester.
• Student discount do not apply to persons attending Norwegian language classes.

Student discount on period tickets

Student discount on period tickets for bus

Passengers who are entitled to a student discount will have a discount of 40 percent on period ticket 30 days for bus. There is no student discount on period ticket 7 days or period ticket 24 hours for bus. 

If you are under 21 and you travel over two zones or more, the best period ticket option is FRAM Ung. 

If you are a student under 30 and you travel over three zones or more, the best period ticket option is FRAM Student.

Student discount on period ticket for express boat

Passengers who hare entitled to a student discount will have a discount of 50 percent on all period tickets for express boat. This applies to period tickets for 30 days, 7 days and 24 hours.

Student discount on single ticket

There is no student discount for a singe ticket for one or two zones.

Passengers who are entitled to a student discount will have a 33 percent discount on trips over 3 zones and a 50 percent discount on trips over 4 zones or more. This applies for trips on all FRAM buses, including trips into or out of Trøndelag and Vestland.

Valid ID

A valid ID must include name, date of birth, picture of the student, and confirmation from the place of study that you are a student this semester. A tip is to download the Studentbevis+ app from Google Play or App Store, or the PocketID app from Google Play or App Store.

A passenger with special needs can travel together with an aide on one ticket. The aide must present a proof of service. The proof of service must be issued by the municipality in which the disabled person resides.

A group of more than ten people who travel together on an express boat and buy a joint ticket receives a 30 percent discount on a single ticket.

The group discount only apply to adults and children, and not for example for military personnel or persons entitled to a concessionary ticket. However, such persons can choose to be included in the group in order to make the group large enough to be entitled to the discount (this may be the cheapest option.)

There is no group discount available for bus trips.

Family discount on buses

On bus trips Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays (with the exception of 17th May) persons in the categories adult or concessionary (honnør) can bring up to four children under 18 years old free of charge as long as everyone travels the same distance and within one zone.

On buses where car seats for children are required, there is a limited number of children's seats available. If you are travelling with several small children we recommend that you bring your own child seat.

Purchasing a ticket with family discount

When you want take advantage of the family discount, you must buy an ordinary single ticket for adult or concessionary (honnør) for yourself. You do not need a ticket for the children, they will be registeret on board the bus.

You can buy the ticket in the FRAM app or on board the bus. If you buy the ticket on board, you will be charged an on-board surcharge of NOK 20 for the category adult. There is no on-board surcharge for the category concessionary (honnør).

Family discount on express boats

On express boats, a family discount apply when a family (father/mother and children 6-17 years old) travel together and buys one joint ticket on board. All family members receive a 25 % discount on a single ticket. Children younger than 6 years old travel for free.

Persons who are doing their compulsory military service are granted a 50 % discount on single tickets adult on presenting proof of service, call-up order, student ID card from the Norwegian Defence University College (Krigsskolen) or the blue ID card provided by the Norwegian Armed Forces.
